Principal's Message

Welcome from the Wilshire Crest Family,

Our goal at Wilshire Crest Elementary is to ensure that every student comes to school excited to learn and knowing that our staff is invested in their learning.

As a relatively small school we are dedicated to giving our families that private school experience in a public school setting by knowing the name of every student and building a personal relationship with each one. In addition, we offer the following programs that focus on building each student's passion:

UCLA Cognitively Guided Instruction for Math
Mobile Science Lab
Reading Partners (one to one tutoring)
Garden School Foundation(which includes cooking classes)
Orchestra (Available for students in 1st - 5th)
Chorus
Artist Lab (After-school Enrichment Program)

We continue to work on setting and reaching attainable goals, working smarter and increasing our student achievement in all subject areas and meeting or exceeding the Common Core Standards in English Language Arts, Math and Science. Therefore there is a high emphasis on providing instruction that prepares our students for the demands of a higher education. Students will be expected to work hard, develop and use those critical thinking skills and be problem-solvers of real world applications.

It is also our desire that our students become Bilingual and Bi-literate. Research has found a meaningful connection between Dual Language Immersion Programs and academic success regardless of a student's native language. As a Dual Language Spanish Immersion school our students will develop a high level of listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in both English and Spanish.

I am confident that the opportunities that we provide along with having students participate in project-base learning, engaging in meaningful discussions, accessibility to technology as a pathway to digital citizenship and promoting social justice responsibility that our students will be able to reach their fullest academic potential and grow into a productive citizen thus creating a better world.
